I have been running since high school on the sprinting team just for fun. I became more conscious about fitness when I joined college so I kept running but took it more seriously when I joined Run Beyond as the Store Manager in August 2018. I love early morning runs, speedwork, strength training and running drills with Coach Simba. Long runs are my least favorite though I am slowly getting interested in ultra runs.
The route is in my village, Sambut, Uasin Gishu County. It starts right opposite the Moi Barracks Farm on Eldoret-Kitale Road. The trail takes one on a tour of Sambut, through homesteads, farms, a small lake, all the way to Kapkong on Eldoret-Webuye road before turning back and running through Sambut again.
I love this route because early in the morning, you will meet elite athletes training, they will always smile and encourage you. Little children on the road will wave at you and the few vehicles or motorbikes you meet will respectfully give you way. You'll have to be content with sharing the road with herds of cows. This is truly the home of champions.
