Welcome to the home of the Friends of Karura Anniversary Race, an annual celebration of the work that Kenya Forest Service and Friends of Karura undertake to protect and preserve Karura for us all.
This year’s race takes place on 27th September and continues with the familiar 2km, 5km, 10km and 21km race options, followed by our family-friendly celebration and Berlin Marathon watch party in Amani Gardens.
The public registration link will be posted on this page at 10:00am on Wednesday 12th August.
We anticipate high demand and, due to limited capacity, recommend being online at 10:00am to secure your place.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is Ksh 1,600 for adults and Ksh 800 for under-20s. Entry includes forest entry and parking, the races, the Berlin Marathon watch party (including partner snacks and refreshments), the event T-shirt, finisher's medal and photography.
Kit Collection: Race packs must be collected in advance as your race number is required to enter the forest. Corporate race packs will be sent to team coordinators. For public entries, you must arrange to collect your kit from Run Beyond. Participants will be notified once race packs are available for collection.
Start Times: Start times are staggered as follows: 21km: 8:00am; 10km: 8:50am; 5km: 9:00am; 2km: 9:05am.
Forest Entry: The start/finish area is Amani Gardens. By car, enter via Gate A on Limuru Road and park at Amani Gardens (overflow parking will be directed to KFEET). Pedestrians can enter via Gate A or Gate D on ICRAF Road.
We recommend allowing additional time for gate access and the walk to the start line.

Bag Drop: A bag drop will be available at the FKF tent at the entrance to Amani Gardens.
Route Support: Water and fruit will be provided around the course at 2km–4km intervals. Please place all rubbish in the bins provided. If you wish to carry additional water, please remember that Karura does not permit single-use plastics in the forest.
Results and Photos: The event is chip timed and results will be published online. Photos will be linked to your results using your race number, so please make sure it is clearly visible on the front of your T-shirt so your time is captured and your photos can be linked correctly.
Outside Alcohol: Please note that no outside alcohol may be brought into the event.
Indemnity: By registering for and participating in the event, you accept our Race Waiver and Indemnity and Code of Conduct.
